I am new to GIS but have used several different applications. I am now working with ArcGIS Pro I did the Lidar tutorial. I want to continue working in it to learn. I am coastal NC and would like to find some of those datasets. I know there are government datasets available. I've found some but was wondering if someone might be able to guide me on where one can download more Lidar Datasets. Thanks -

Hi @RML

Here are some sources I found that can let you download Coastal NC LiDAR Data
1. North Carolina Spatial Data Download

• Offers Quality Level 1 & 2 LiDAR from 2014–2017 and Legacy LiDAR from 2001–2005.
• Includes Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and building footprints.
• You can search by county and download mosaics with various cell sizes (3.125, 5, 10, 20, 50 ft).
• Managed by NC Emergency Management GIS Section.

2. NOAA Data Access Viewer

• A fantastic tool for customizing and downloading elevation (LiDAR), imagery, and land cover data.
• Covers the entire coastal U.S., including North Carolina.
• You can define your area of interest and request tailored downloads

3. USGS Lidar Explorer Map

• Interactive map lets you draw your area of interest and download available LiDAR products.
• Includes Topobathy LiDAR, which is especially useful for coastal and underwater terrain.

I would recommend using LAS datasets when and where you can to help visualise any point clouds. Using the 3D analyst tool for Terrain and surface analysis will be a great help also.

I hope this helps I am sure there are loads more sites out there someone has came across
