Unable to Add Layer into a .prjx - mismatch of: # ofshapes and table records

Working in ArcGIS Pro 3.1.3, and attempted to bring a data layer (.shp) into a .prjx

However, I was undable to add the layer receiveing an error message stating:

FAILED TO ADD DATA __________.shp

NUMBER OF SHAPES DOES NOT MATCH NUMBER OF TABLE RECORDS

Is there a means of correcting either (+ or - number of shapes in the .shp or the number of records in .dbf/.txt) so that the layer is usable once again?

Have you tried running the Repair Geometry GP tool on the shapefile?
