I am doing a spatiotemporal analysis where I compare two feature classes. Feature class 1 is a polygonal class with start and end dates of construction appended to each polygon in the feature class (e.g., work starts 1/1/2024 and ends 1/1/2028). Feature class 2 is a polyline class also with start and end dates similar to the 1st feature class. I am looking to use the "Find Space Time Matches" geoprocessing tool as its description seems to indicate that it can identify where spatial and temporal intersections occur (e.g., where a line from feature class 2 intersects spatially with a polygon in feature class 1 AND the time periods overlap, meaning that construction on that line is happening at the same time and space as construction of the polygonal area).
Unfortunately, the tool is not working as I had hoped it would. It iterates infinitely in every instance (not sure why?) and there have been incomplete runs where it only identifies maybe 2 of a possible 2000 intersections.
1. Has anyone had issues with this tool and/or knows what my problem may be?
2. If not this tool, then what other tool / process might improve the analysis?
I am using ArcGIS Pro v 2.9.5.
