Does share branch versioning only with portal and enterprise and not AGS standalone?

thx for any advice!

Per ESRI documentation at https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/geodatabases/overview/overview-of-versioning-in-a... you need at least a Standard or Advanced license.

I understand that these licenses are needed to manage the geodatabase content. But, considering that one wants to edit a Feature Service, I think it is required only an "Editor" user from ArcGIS Portal if it is available through a Web GIS application. If you want to use ArcGIS Pro to edit this service, beyond the Portal´s "Editor" role, is it also needed an Standard or Advancee license?

A group of us here at Esri came across this post while working on another issue. Branch versioning is built to work with Portal-federated feature services, and not AGS standalone.

I'm glad you were able to find a work-around, but while we won't do anything to intentionally block this scenario, it's also not supported and might not work in a future release.
