Hi - only a few days into 2.0 I tried to send a project zipped to a 1.4 User ... and the project cant be opened. I also can not save it as a 1.4 version project. Is there a plan to introduce this feature into Pro?

According to Save a project—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop , you cannot save a copy of ArcGIS Pro 2.0 project to 1.x project. Looks like upgrading ArcGIS Pro to ver. 2.x is the only option.
projects and project templates saved using ArcGIS Pro 2.0 or later cannot be opened by ArcGIS Pro 1.x. You cannot save a copy of an ArcGIS Pro 2.0 project that can be opened with any 1.x version of ArcGIS Pro.
Had there been a plan to implement "Save a Copy" to 1.x, it would have already been implemented in 2.0 release.
Maybe an idea @ https://community.esri.com/community/arcgis-ideas?sr=search&searchId=6fbd57c6-75b8-45ba-b121-521077e... would help. Either Esri will implement it in upcoming versions, or they will justify the current move.
"Save as" as an idea? Thought that "idea" was a standard since ArcGIS Desktop 8 🙂
Yes - might end up adding it as an idea. You are right!
You indicated you wanted to share... perhaps packages is where they are going. They give no version disclaimer about loading so either this was a big omission or maybe it doesn't matter. I would give it a try to see if it gets you over the immediate issue ... Project packages

Thanks Robert,
while the explanation and solution description are vey helpful and welcome - I mainly wrote this note since "we" were all used to be able to use "save as" to write out different versions of an mxd in ArcMap and I frankly sort of expected to find that feature in ArcGIS Pro, too. But the project feature will help. Thanks
