I have a Layout in Pro (2.5.1) that includes some text elements on a title bar. The text element in the middle I want centered on the header bar, layout is a letter size landscape, so I set X position at 5.5" with midpoint of bottom edge as anchor.
In this case, I use this layout for a series of birds occurrence maps, each with a different title for the different species. As I make the different maps for different species, I change the text of that element to reflect the new species (also change active occurrence layer in the map but use same layout). Each time I change the text of that layout element to reflect the new species name, it moves the X positioning of the text! Shouldn't an anchor with a horizontal center justification keep that X position the same (aka 'anchored'), and my text just grows/contracts equally on either side as the text string grows/contracts?
With current behavior I have to go back and reset X position to 5.5" each time I change the text string. I don't think this should behave this way if I have it anchored on center [horizontally]. Am I missing something here? Two screen shots below showing behavior. First is set as desired, then second shows X position change when I change text of element. Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the screenshots - they really help. The anchor point should not change when you update the text string. I'm able to reproduce this issue using version 2.5.2.
However, I cannot reproduce this using version 2.6. ArcGIS Pro 2.6 includes a number of changes made to layout text elements, not to mention the introduction of map graphics (which include graphic text). It is likely that this bug was resolved with this work.
