Modify Panes for Tabs to be on Top

I am wondering if there is a way to customize the pane layout. I would like the tabs with the name of each pane on top, rather than on bottom. I use Adobe products and find the layout with these tabs on top much more intuitive, since going all the way to the bottom of the pane each time is a hassle, especially when my cursor is hardly ever in that space.

Not the solution you were looking for but you can drop panes over target arrows and they will auto hide on that side of the display. You can also right click on any hidden tab to open a pick list of tabs on that side.
