I'm trying to export satellite imagery from a WMS, explicitly made for export: World Imagery (for Export), found here: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=226d23f076da478bba4589e7eae95952

The service URL is https://tiledbasemaps.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Imagery/MapServer and loads fine in Pro. I'm using the Geoprocessing tool "Create Map Tile Package" to create a tpk (you apparently can't export plain image tiles, which would be far more useful) but it returns " Layer type is not supported: Map/World_Imagery".

There's no other data in the project that could interfere. The map projection matches the WMS.

See arcgis desktop - Exporting ESRI image Tiles designed for Export? - Geographic Information Systems St...

Nutshell summary: by exploring the REST API service page and it's sub-pages, especially Export Tiles Estimate, you can test and refine input parameters until you get usable results.

another option for Esri World Imagery Basemap, is to 'download map'.

When using this method of downloading map, is there a way to change the coordinate system? Or does all your features have to be in Web Mercator Auxillary Sphere? Really want to use this as basemap but change to Stateplane, and the project raster/other methods are not working.

I also find the free Tile Package Kreator very easy to use for this workflow Introducing Tile Package Kreator (Esri Labs) and https://marketplace.arcgis.com/listing.html?id=9c9ddae83e5549bb88a2c22e87a18ba1
