Hi all,

This is my first post, apologies if it's in the wrong location. I have an excel spreadsheet with MGRS coordinates in individual cells, and I'm trying to add labeled points in a layout/map that I've created. I can't seem to find a way to easily do this. Is there a way I can reference the excel spreadsheet as a data source to import and add the points automatically, or does anyone know of a manual way for me to do this? I've attached a PDF of the product I have right now.Layout

Hi Brandon,

Point graphics in the Layout View only work within "page space". Real world coordinate systems, like MGRS, are not applicable. In order to place points in geographic space you will need to create an XY layer from you spreadsheet.

Though don't have any experience creating XY layer with data with MGRS coordinates I've added asome links that I think can get you started.

XY Table To Point—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop

Make XY Event Layer—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop

Convert Coordinate Notation—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop

Adding Excel Lat Long Coordinates into ArcGIS - GIS Geography

Hope this hleps,

Tom
