The situation: editing topology layers in my version of a production database(connected to the DB with my named user that has has editing privileges).
The issue😵: could not edit, received the following error "Operation only allowed by the owner of the version [sde.DEFAULT]".
My AhHa!🤓 moment: I added more of the same topology layers from the production database (so I had duplicate layers in my project) BUT I added them using a different connection that only had viewing privileges(see attached pictures). Evidently Enterprise(sde) did not like the duplicate layers (added from the same database) having different privileges(one set having editing privileges, the other having only viewing privileges).
The solution😎: avoid adding duplicate layers from the same database using two different named users that have different privileges.
