Hello,

Is anyone experiencing issues with arcpro crashing when trying to change symbology? Using version 3.4.2. This has only begun happening even though I've been using this version for a few weeks now. The software 'black screens' and is (not responding).

Thanks

Hi Emma

One thing you might want to check are your display drivers.

I distinctly remember an issue I had when I first installed ArcGIS Pro many years ago and the symbology pane used to crash the application, when chosen. Apparently it was due to my laptop using the default Windows display drivers being installed and not the recommended graphics card drivers..... may be one to have a look at?

I hope this help - ed

If it happens for every project with every layer, then

How To: Perform an ArcGIS pro Soft Reset

Performing a clean uninstall of ArcGIS Pro | Esri Australia Technical Blog

How To: Perform a Clean Uninstall and Reinstall of ArcGIS Pro

should fix the problem

otherwise contact tech support so that they can examine other system issues and your data.

Hi @EmmaWilson

If the suggestions by Dan do not work, can you confirm what type of symbology are you using?

What are you switching to and is it always the same behaviour? Do you have issues with other functionality?

Does your machine meet the ArcGIS Pro requirements?

Thanks for the advice everyone. It did indeed start to lag & glitch and then crash during various operations. Turns out I needed to change the rendering engine to DirectX 12 to be compatible with my laptop graphics driver.
