ArcGIS PRO - Records disappeared from the table when joining tables

Hello everyone,

Does anyone experience missing records after joining tables in PRO?.. I just lost (gone from dataset ) all 60 records (records that matched the join table) of the input Table. The records disappeared from the main table after I removed the join! Frustrated!!!!!

FYI: using ArcGIS PRO 2.8.2 and AGOL hosted tables - data owner.

Try and reduce your workflow down to something that's easy to replicate and try to make it happen again. If you can reliably delete records just by using the join commands then you need to take this to your support contact as this could be a major regression in Pro, or at least signs that something in your environment is acting up.

I've opened a Pro project that had a join to a table.  Then I opened/saved that project as a user that had permissions on all the data except the table that was joined (no error messages, etc).

In this case, no matter what I did, Pro would not recognize it.  Could see the attribute table, but no lines.  Even labeling, says the features don't exist.  However, I could select the 'invisible' lines, but not identify or anything else.

Removing the join had no affect, even adding the feature class again to the map did NOT draw any feature, as it saved that somewhere in the project.

Ended up having to re-build the project as anytime I add that layer to the exiting project, table shows, but no lines.

Not sure if this applies, but if your join was in a different dataset OR had different permissions, maybe it somewhat applies...

If you close out Pro, Start without template, and add the data in this brand new "uncorrupted" project, are the feature still there?

Just a thought,

Hello RhettZufelt,

Thanks for your comments! I did try  closing  and opening the file on a new PRO project.. All records are mysteriously  gone! Both tables are hosted on AGOL  and I was just using one table to copy attributes from another table using the "calculate field" tool in PRO. I did a table join using  a common key field and then I selected a sub-set using one of the field categories (taxa =Reptiles).  After successfully copying the data, I removed the join and ALL the previously selected records ( all 60 reptiles record ) were deleted. The actual records ( no just blank) were removed from the table. It also deleted the records from the AGOL version.

Sorry to hear that.  My example was with local database data, not AGOL in Pro 2.9.2.

However, been using ESRI stuff long enough, I don't try ANYTHING with the data until I have a copy of it.  Especially AGOL data.  Seems like it is just a matter of time before something goes wrong and need to recover from backup(s).

Agree!.. I usually work on a copy and I overwrite the AGOL file later. However, the overwrite sometimes brake the dashboard and Exp. builder App filters and functions. There is no winning workflow!
