ArcGIS Pro and AGOL requirements

I attended the UC last week and learned alot about AGOL.  Did I hear right that users of ArcGIS Pro must have an organizational ArcGIS Online account in order to use the program?  If this is true, doesn't that eliminate individual licensed users, as well as those organizations that choose not to buy credits?  What is Esri's business model for ArcGIS Pro?

I hope you get this question answered.

I had heard that ArcGIS Pro was meant to replace ArcGIS Explorer Desktop. If an organizational account is required, however, then this is not the case. (Explorer was free and required no special account.)

Jeff,

I hope we hear something soon. I spoke with Bernie Szukalski at the UC,

and he said that there are concerns in the community about linking

organizational accounts to ArcGIS Pro, but it seems like Esri is still

deliberating the future path(s).

Stay tuned...

Christopher,

An ArcGIS online subscription is included with all ArcGIS for Desktop licenses.

I don't work the business side, so you should work with your Esri rep for details.

Jeff,

ArcGIS Pro was not built specifically as a replacement for ArcGIS Explorer Desktop.  For sure, some will be able to use it as a replacement.  ArcGIS Explorer Desktop still serves a purpose in allowing "non-ArcGIS" users to freely view content created by ArcGIS users.
