Hi there! I have a map that I've been working on with a good amount of data on it. When I try to load it on a desktop or any computer, it takes forever to load and is simply just not opening. The "Loading Map" symbol just keeps running and my mouse also has the loading icon over it. I lowered the rendering speed as well as cleared my cache before opening it. Not sure what to do or why I cannot open it.... Than

The source of the issue could be a lot of things. Assuming this is in ArcGIS Pro, where is your source data coming from? A FGDB, EGDB, etc.?

Many thing can slow down Pro. Have you opened the Diagnostic Monitor to see what's dragging things down? Help Tab -> Diagnostic Monitor  https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/arcgis-diagnostic-monitor.htm   Create a fake project and get the monitor running then open your slow project to be able to see what is happening.

Some common things that have slowed me down:

  • Too many maps in the project. When I first got started in Pro I used to create a new map for everything. My current perception of Pro is that it lacks focus when getting started - when the project is opened it has to ponder every data item before moving forward. Now I only have 4-5 maps in a project.
  • Where are the data sources? The further away a data source is from the desktop the slower data will load. For testing purposes, do you have the option of copying data locally?
  • Bad indexes. Data that has been edited benefits from index (spatial and attribute) index rebuilds.
  • Usual hardware stuff - are all the drivers up to date, enough ram, processor, etc.?
