A georeferenced image (with one control point) fails to appear as “zoom to layer” tool is applied,

In the screenshots below, the image is georeferenced with one control point. However, as the “zoom to layer” tool is applied, the image fails to appear.

What might be the issue here?

A solution was proposed. Alternately, a support case could be opened as also proposed in case this is a bug and not a change in the way the process now works.  You should confer with Jamal since it appears you are working on the same data

Thanks Dan,

Actually this was an issue too when I turned off Auto apply and created three control points.

Strange... Xander can do it, but your site can't.  Sounds like you have some differences in the coordinate systems... Jamal has another post where this was found to be a root cause of his issues.  If anything isn't defined, or defined incorrectly, then expected functionality is not going to happen

Indeed strange, might have to do with the exact sequence of the steps involved. Anyway, it would be good to register a case with support, since the image should not disappear.

A small side note about you control points, choose them as well spread as you can. When they are close together any small error will become larger for those areas further away of the area coverage by the control points.

Correct. Setting a coordinate system for the image (before starting georeferencing) resolves the issue. In ArcMap this is not required to perform georeferencing

It appears that there is a big difference in how ArcMap and Pro handle the same sort of tasks. What could be done in ArcMap in a certain methodology might not be applicable in Pro.

That's right.!  They have cleaned up a lot of the sloppiness that existed in ArcMap.  You have to be more organized and paying attention to details in Pro.  That is a big move forward in my opinion.
