With the most recent updates to ArcGIS Online a (much needed) enhancement was made whereby the search term you had entered into the search box wasn't lost if you changed where you were searching in the portal (from say "My Content" to "My favourites" or "My organisation")
It would be great if the same functionality was also added to search terms entered in the catalog pane of ArcGIS Pro, when searching in the portal (as this currently deletes the search term when you switch location - as per former AGOL behaviour)
PLEASE add this or fix the bug that's causing it or something. (I say this because it seems to maintain the search inconsistently.)
Hello @RichardHowe ,
Thank you for your suggestion! You may already be aware of this, but just in case, I would like to mention that, while this capability is not yet in ArcGIS Pro, you can, for the time being, take advantage of the Recent Searches list and quickly bring back the search expression you used while in a different portal place. For example, suppose you just searched for "Seattle" in My Content:
You then switched to "My Groups". You can click the Recent Searches dropdown to see the search expressions that you have used, with the most recent one on top:
From there you can select "Seattle" in the search history list get the results for My Groups:
This Recent Searches list is available in the Catalog pane (above), Catalog view, and browse dialog boxes.
