APPLIES TO
Users in a data production environment.
BACKGROUND
This idea would eliminate repetitive setting of number display preferences across desktop and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
Using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, when working with an applicable numeric field in an attribute table, the user sets the number of decimal places in number display preferences.
The user publishes the layer to AGOL, which defaults to 2 decimal places for the double data type. The user must reset the number of decimal places from default to desired under Configure Attributes in the pop-up editor. This is acceptable for a few fields. It is inconvenient if there are many fields. If there are frequent updates to data, the inconvenience of this time-consuming task is multiplied.
AUXILIARY ISSUES
• Function: there are no batch tools in AGOL that would allow setting multiple number display preferences simultaneously
• Interface: the AGOL Configure Attribute dialog box is small, fixed, and selected fields do not appear highlighted
IDEA
Capture number display preferences in desktop and ensure the same preferences are part of feature services published from desktop to AGOL.
