While it's not currently possible to see all the layer IDs at once in the Contents pane, are you aware that you can review IDs when sharing web layers? This topic has for more info. I know this isn't quite the same, but I was thinking you might be sharing layers so I wanted to just make sure you were aware of this.
This layer ID assignment needs some serious improvement. When there are issues with the layer ID and relate ID, like Layer has a relate id 1 defined the same as the other layer/table, there is no easy way to resolve it, especially for Maps that contain a lot of features/ relates.
@JonahLay- thanks, my response to the link you provided- Assign Layer Ids. Being able to view the layer ID easily like GeereshSingh07 is requesting could help us fix Layer ID/ duplicate Relate ID issues created by the software.
I can relate to this request since we have to include related tables in the service, our 12-layer service is now 40+ layers. Pro stacks points>lines>polygons, these additional 28+ layers are now mixed into the original 12 and the sequential assignment is all over the place and getting to the relate ID's is painful. Is there a way to reset the Layer ID's once they've been assigned so they remain sequential point>line>polygon without creating a new map or manually changing them all one by one in the share> content pane? Seeing the Layer ID in the Contents Pane, or exposing it as a get/set property in the Describe, would help out with managing these Layer ID issues.
@JonahLay , thank you for sharing the insights. Yes, as of now, we are using either "Share Web Layer" method or we check REST page to see Layer IDs, however, it isn't that convenient.
Layer IDs visible in Content's Pane will give better user experience.
