In the past, I've found ArcScene great for creating quick, animated, 3D simulations for various projects at work and school. Most of the time, I'm using the "move layer along path" visualization in combination with capture-view fly by animation. The only limitation has been the inability to include basemaps in ArcScene; necessitating importing a raster if it's a mapping project.

ArcGIS Pro is great for creating quick 3D scenes, particularly because it allows basemaps, however "move layer along path", seems to be the only thing left out of the animation toolbar in the transition from desktop to Pro!  Can we change this?  I love that tool!

Hi, I also love the tool "Move layer along path" but it is still not available in ArcGIS Pro. Does anyone from ESRI have the answer?

Many thanks.

Thanks for being patient on this one.

The method we recommend in Pro is "stop motion" style animation, where you split the line feature into small sections, and then turn them on (in order) using the range slider. There's a (old) video explaining the process (see below) in more detail.

We're thinking to revisit this in a near-future release and make it simpler. If that's interesting, please let us know what kinds of animations you're doing. We'll want to support things like icons/ cars / helicopters / planes moving along a path (in 2D and 3D), as well as the pure "line growth" animation used in (for example) the Indiana Jones movies.

Thanks, Nathan.
