Why can't I create a feature layer on ArcGIS Online when I go into My Content?

I want to create a Field Map, however when I go into My Content to create a feature layer, I only get the buttons New item and Create App. If I click on them, there is nothing about feature layers for me at all. Why is that?

When you click on New Item > there should be a button towards the bottom of the window that says Feature Layer (above Developer credentials)

If the Feature layer option is not available, it might be a permissions thing!

As @DanielFox1 said - it is a permissions issue! You'll need to have the permissions assigned to upload data in this case.

I also think if you are just on the regular free ArcGIS Online (a non-organization account) the option to upload data to a feature layer will not be available because it requires storage credits.

What is your role and usertype? 

You will need to change your role and usertype depending on what they are.
