Why can't group members contribute items to the group?

I've created a group within our organization that allows members edit capability for the group's contents. However, members have been unable to contribute their own content to the group. Their content is being shared to the organization. How can the group's members contribute their own items?

Hi Joshua,

Under 'Contributors', do you have 'Members' checked?  Ex:

Hi Jake, Here's the group config. After creating a second group without the 'Members can update all items...' selected, members are able to contribute. Is the 'Members can update items' capability meant to limit the contribution of items to the group owner only?

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Joshua,

In order to share content with a group that has item update capability enabled, you need to ensure that members can be contributors. Also, sharing the item with this type of group needs to happen from My Contents.

The user should check the item that needs to be shared, and then select Share> Access and Update Capabilities. When this dialog is selected, Groups that have this capability enabled that the user is a member of will appear for sharing.

This documentation further describes this workflow, Share items—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

Thanks,

Kelly
