What do the green dots on apps signify?

When in ArcGIS Online clicking the grid next to the username shows all the available apps. Some have green dots in the top right. What do the green dots signify?

I believe those mean they are "new" in some way. Or at the very least, that you haven't clicked that particular icon out of the app launcher.

Clicking on any of them will make the green dot go away the next time you open the app launcher.
