I uploaded a KML map document which has a single polygon layer. There are many categories in this polygon layer that I wish to utilize and publish; however, none of the contents I need were found in the contents tab. The layer added fine, but it is just the parcel lines with a hollow fill. Why wasn't all the data carried over in the KML conversion and why can't I see the categories in the contents tab? What is the correct protocol for adding polygon layers with unique values to an ArcGISOnline basemap?

Can you share the URL to the KML so we can see exactly what you mean?

Thanks,

Mike

We don't display the data in our contents tab. You can click on a feature on the map to see it's attribute values.

There are two issues that will be fixed with an upcoming update to ArcGIS.com. The first is that the color of the polygons should be blue, as defined in the KML. Also, the popup display is quite slow, so be patient.

ArcGIS.com symbolizes the KML exactly the way it is authored. When you author your kml, if you change the color of individual polygons, that should show up.

Thanks,

Mike
