Updating ArcGIS Online Server Version?

I'm actually unsure if this is more of an Online or Pro question -

I'm trying to publish/share a web map from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online, and I'm receiving an 00396 error message for the annotation layer. We don't have a GIS server (only publish to ArcGIS Online from Pro with the Share > Web Map function), but in the article is says that this could happen if the back-end servers of ArcGIS Online can't support the dataset.

Has anyone else ran into this scenario before? I'll probably just remove the annotation layer, but I'm more curious about it than anything.

Thank you!

I think annotation layers are only supported when publishing feature layer to ArcGIS Enterprise and referencing a enterprise geodatabase.  Here is the list of items supported by ArcGIS Online, and annotation layers are not listed.  You could probably export your annotations to features and then use labeling in AGO as a work around.

Hey @SaraJL @tmichael_wpjwa

Supportive information to what tmichael said which is right, this idea here requests for this to be added, but it's unfortunately still not added, I would say add your support here as well and hopefully this will catch the attention from someone at Esri: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-ideas/publishing-annotations-to-arcgis-online/idi-p/9304...
