Hi everyone,

Pretty new to ArcGIS so please bear with me 🙂

I am running on ArcGIS Online with a Professional Basic License.

I'm trying to add a Feature Layer by importing an Excel DataSheet which includes Lat/Long Coordinates for Location. I am selecting the Locate Features By Corordinates option and mapping the Lat/Long Fields in the Spreadsheet accordingly.

When I then try to Save/Publish the Item I am getting a persistent high-level errors (depending on the upload path I take e.g. Drag Drop File into Content->Item Add, then Save or Upload Spreadsheet first and then publish it)

(Via Content Upload->Add Item)
Error
There was an error while adding this item.

(Via Publish for an uploaded Spreadsheet)
Error

There was an error publishing the service.

There are no other Error Details being shown..

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Could you share a sample of the excel sheet with the headers (first row) and 5 value rows intact? Also ensure all field names are unique.

I could publish it successfully, without any error.

How many records do you have?

Does the Lat and Long fieldtype reflect as Double (while adding it to ArcGIS Online)?

Are there any gaps (No Value) or spaces in the Lat/Long values? If yes, you need to correct them before proceeding ahead.

Hi again, Many thanks for trying and confirming that.

  • Total Records count is 1300 approx
  • Lat/Long are reflecting as Type Double on Import in ArcGIS Online
  • I have just tried with the same 5 Record DataSet that I shared here, however the Error persists. So am am now thinking this is account related perhaps?..

LatLong is Type double

Try the following steps (one at a time and check).

1. Clear browser cache and cookies

2. Restart your system

3. Check the steps in a different browser/ incognito mode

4. Test on a different machine/ network

Hello again,

We have tried..

  • Clear Cache/Cookies, on different Browsers Same Machine same logged in User.
  • Different Browsers on Different Machine (PC) same Network, same logged in User
  • Different Browsers on Different Machine (Mac), different Network & different logged in User
  • Restarting all Systems/Repeat.

The issue still persists in all cases.

Any ideas? 🤔
