Story Map stuck on initializing screen embedding in SharePoint Online

My organization utilizes SharePoint online for our internal and external websites. When I try to embed my Story Map on the site it gets stuck on the Initializing, Thank you for Waiting screen. Even after I republish the page the Story Map is still stuck on this same screen. How do I get the story map to initialize so that we can share our the information across our organization with out the need for publishing a link.

If you embed the Story Map in a non-sharepoint site does it work?

It appears that there were sharepoint settings that our IT department put in place that blocked external content form being added to the organizational site.
