Special characters in Output names when performing Analysis in new Map Viewer

This is more a rant than a question.

In the old Map Viewer (now called 'classic'), when running analysis your output dataset names could include hyphen and bracket/brace characters.  In the new Map Viewer, if you include a hyphen or bracket/brace character in the name of the output dataset you get the following message:

However, if you visit the page linked in this message (https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/analyze/perform-analysis-mv.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_5EACA346CAB14E...), the hyphen and bracket/brace characters are not included in the list of disallowed characters:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.

This is either a documentation error or a bug in the Analysis tools in the new Map Viewer.  Either way, it's really annoying.

Thanks @RussRoberts, that bug only mentions the bracket/brace characters though: [ ] (), it doesn't mention hyphens.  You can't have hyphens in output layer names either.  I think it's probably worth adding a note to the bug so that hyphens are mentioned too.  I was looking at the details here: https://support.esri.com/en-us/bug/unable-to-save-output-layers-when-using-analysis-tools-bug-000159...

When using the Analysis Tools in Map Viewer Classic you can have bracket/brace and hyphen characters in output layer names.  Plus once you've run the Analysis Tool, you can simply rename the output layers and add in bracket/brace and hyphen characters, so the restriction/limitation seems a little odd/inconsistent with other parts of ArcGIS Online.

The doc will be updated to include the missing characters. Sorry for the confusion. You can track this bug that was logged: BUG-000159958
