For instance, in the Fredericksburg, VA region, you would think the "fredericksburg and spotsylvania battlefields memorial national military park" was the most important place in Virginia based on how it shows up in the zoomed out view.
Is there any way to change the way individual landmarks show up on a basemap in ArcGIS online..? I know the answer is no, but, it would make things much nicer if you could.

Hello Luke,
I have good news....You can edit ESRI basemaps. https://developers.arcgis.com/vector-tile-style-editor This website is the ArcGIS Vector Tile Style Editor and allows you to edit basemaps and save them in your content. You can remove place names, change the color, increase size....The customization is slightly overwhelming. All you need to do is select the basemap you want to edit and then click on individual items to edit these specific items. Don't forget to click Save as after you edit a basemap so you don't lose your changes.
Have fun!

...you just blew my mind. I can't believe this is available for free users. It worked perfectly, with one click. Thank you so much.
