I am using arcgis 10.1 and wanting to publish some test data to my trial ArcGis Online account and having trouble. It says Proxy server got bad address. I am using the address that is visible when i am in my trial version online account website. http://aeroatlastest.maps.arcgis.com:8080/rest/services. I also tried http://aeroatlastest.maps.arcgis.com:6080/services. What am i doing wrong?

Where are you seeing this URL? This isn't the URL for hosted services. To get the URL, go to the item in ArcGIS.com and, for map services, you'll see the URL on the item details page. For feature services, there's a context menu off the layer in a service that has a choice to display the "Service URL".

Thanks,

Mike

what I am wanting to do is use the publishing service of my arcmap desktop 10.1 and publish to my trial version of my arcgis online so I can see how my map information is going to perform. The data is to large to upload as csv or the 1000 feature limit of the zip upload.
Thank You Tom

First, you need to sign in to ArcGIS Online from Desktop (File menu). Once signed in, when you go to Share as a service (also from the File menu), you will see an option to share to "My Hosted Services"...

Thanks,

We are at the same situation but don't get the entry "My Hosted Services"[1] in ArcGIS Map. We are logged in via file menu and our accounts are members of a group with status "Organisation" as ArcGIS Online Group info says. Any requirements left to meet?

The Map document we want to publish as service consists of two feature layers and a additional table whose entries are linked to the feature (classes) via a key (long integer).

Any Idea? Thanks a lot!

You may have to add a portal connection to your ArcGIS Online organization:

1)  Close ArcMap and ArcCatalog and go to Start > All Programs > ArcGIS > ArcGIS Administrator.
2)  In the ArcGIS Administrator window, go to Advanced > Manage Portal Connections.
3)  Here, click Add and add your connection, (it should be http://myorg.maps.arcgis.com/)
4)  Once added, click on the new connection and click the Connect button.  Close the dialog windows and reopen ArcMap to see if the connection exists when publishing.

You also have to be running ArcGIS desktop 10.1 to publish.

Thanks
