Possible to Change Point Colors Based on Zoom Level in ArcGIS Online

Specifically, I’m aiming to have all points appear in solid gray when the map is zoomed out. However, when zoomed in, I want these points to display different colors based on a the word found in an attribute field.

Ps I have arcgis pro if that helps me out in anyway.

Hi @JonJones1, 

One way you could accomplish this is to create a map with two copies of the point layer, each with its own symbolization and visibility range.

1. Bring the layer into a map (Layer A)
2. Create a duplicate of the layer (Layer B)

For Layer A,

1. Set the visibility range to display when zoomed out
2. Choose the single symbol style and select a solid gray color

For Layer B,

1. Set the visibility range to display when zoomed in,
2. Choose the unique values style
3. Select the field you want to symbolize on,
4. Select a color ramp or individual colors for the different values

Hi there! This sounds like a reasonable option, thank you! On a side note, I would have guessed that keeping it in one layer and somehow adjusting the color based on scale was just an existing feature I didn’t know about, haha! But I thank you for the suggestion; I think it’s the best option I’ve got! Thank you!
