New to ArcGIS Online

I would like to search the web for available data for a specific location for my map.  Is there anyway to have the data returned be relavent to the area of interest for my map.  I seem to get a lot of data - but much of it not relavent to the location of my map.

The results are currently filtered to those items where the extent overlaps the map extent. I guess there just isn't data relevant to what you're looking for.
