Hi all,

I have a group of layers in AGOL that I have published from ArcGIS Pro, where I have also defined style and symbology.

In my web map I have changed the symbology of one of the layers, but when I use the EDIT widget (in Experience Builder) acting on this layer it always refers to the symbology of the original map.

I discovered that it is connected with the symbology of the source layer I shared from ArcGIS Pro.

In the information pop up (see attached figure) I cannot disconnect the symbology of the source layer: "Proprieties cannot be  reset because they are already referenced from the source layer"

Moreover, if the disconnection had worked, I also wonder whether I would have lost all the relationship of the source layer or not.

The only solution is to start from beginning my already advanced project!!!!

Thansk for any help!

Hi @CarlaNardinocchi

If this is regarding Editing, you may need to update your templates. You can now do that in Map Viewer following these steps:

With the layer selected in the Layers pane,

  • Click Configure editing.
  • Choose Templates
  • In the Templates window, click Update in order to sync the new styles to the templates.
  • Save and close the Templates window.

The updated Template(s) will appear in the Editor pane in Map Viewer and the Edit widget in other apps like Experience Builder.

I think I had a similar / the same question last year and unfortunately the answer seems to be "republish from Pro to update the symbology".

Thanks for the tip and for the hope that I can solve this problem without having to do it all over again.

I don't know if this relates to editing. I know that when I use the Edit widget in Experience Builder, the original style of my layer (source layer) that was imported from ArcGIS Pro comes out (it was a mistake to set all the style in ArcGIS Pro!!!?)

Here is what I am doing.

The source layer is based on a 'Count and Amount (Colour)' and I had defined 3 categories, each with a different colour.

In AGOL's map viewer I change the style of this layer to Single Symbol (unique color). I save it.

The map changes its layout and I now have a single symbol. The legend shows: the name of the single symbol layer and the point.

I now follow your instructions:

Click on Configure Editing

Choose Templates : here I see the 3 categories but all with the same colour of the syngle symbol.

I cannot find a way to change the template and/or Update.

I have removed 2 of the 3 categories, but:

- I MUST enter a name to be displayed
- and my changes are invalid

Thanks again for any help!

Hi @EmilyGeo

I take back what I said.

I went ahead despite the error in saving.
I left 1 template, entered the name I wanted of the layer and the widget in Experience Builder was correct.

Thank you very much!
