Issues with StoryMap caused by organization's firewall

There are some users within my organization that get an error trying to use StoryMaps and Dashboard when they are connected to our firewall/VPN. It works fine when these users disconnect. Also, these user accounts are using a SAML connection. Has anyone else had these issues and if so what was a work around, other than being disconnected from the network?
