Hi,

My company just received the 10.1 desktop pre-release as well as beta access to the organization version of ArcOnline (if I am supposed to be posting this somewhere else, please let me know).

I tried uploading my first map, which has a single layer and not much data (< 10 mb), and it states that amount is over the limit for my account, which is in no way possible. My account is an administrator for my organization and has GBs free. Am I doing something incorrect?

Thanks,
Chris

Can you elaborate on what you are doing? Are you publishing that data as a service? If you're creating a hosted tiled service, it can easily exceed your available storage space if you are caching it at all scale levels. You can end up with millions of tiles and terrabytes of data in the form of the tiled images, if you are caching the full range of scales. Even if you only have simple lines on the map.

Hi Mike,

I was trying to share as a Map Package (file-share as-map package). I analyzed the package and found no errors, but it won't upload.

I read the instructions on map packages and it didn't mention space issues or how to resolve them. Sorry if my description is lacking, but I am pretty new to ESRI.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris are you sure you are logged into the right account from within 10.1? I had never tried uploading a map package before, only services. I just tested this with several layers (100mb worth of shapefiles) and was able to upload a map package to my admin account. ArcGIS Online compressed my package to about 2mb and it appears in my content. I'm wondering if its an account issue seeing its giving you a space error.
