My scenario is that I take a bunch of pictures with my GPS enabled digital camera and then convert them to geotagged points in ArcGIS, simple enough.  The problem I have is that now I want to create a web map with the images as pop-ups and the images path is local to my PC.  If I share the images on Flicr or SkyDrive or Google or wherever, I then have to grab each URL individually from each image an dedit it into the point file's URL attribute field.  Is there a way to create a large number of geotagged images in a way that they can be shared on ArcGIS online without this tedious manual step of coping in a URL for each image?

It depends on how you are creating your points I guess. If you use the new Geotagged Photos to Points tool in 10.1 and then Share As a service to AGOL, then it should work. That tool creates a point feature class with photos as feature class attachments, and they should show up in HTML pop ups in ArcMap and in AGOL web map.

ArcGIS Online can't work with locally stored images. They would have to be referenced via a URL. It seems like after you create your feature class, and you end up with a column of data that points to each image, like c:\folder\image1.png, if you modify that field value to point to a URL, it would just work. For example, change the "c:\folder\" to "http://myphotos.com/". You could then use that URL to create the popup, buy adding an Image element to the popup.

thanks,

Mike
