I found PRINT and can print as pdf but (1) formatted on a 'page' instead of just the map and (2) v low resolution.

I used screen capture which works OK but I wonder if there is a direct method?

I found PRINT on the ArcGIS Online menu and I can print as pdf but (1) output is formatted on a 'page' instead of just the map and (2) v low resolution.

I see EXPORT in ArcGIS Desktop but nothing in ArcGIS Online.
