How to Maintain Feature Transparency to an Uploaded Feature Service?

We have some layers that we upload to our ArcGIS Online Organization account on a weekly basis using a python script.  I would like the updated feature service to have a transparency which will display overlapping polygons.  The only way I know to do this in Arcmap is to set the feature transparency based on a field value.  The problem is that using 'advanced renderer settings' is not possible when uploading a feature service from Arcmap.

Yet ArcGIS Online can display a feature service with feature transparencies, so how can I maintain my transparencies to an uploaded feature service?

It's been a while since I played around with this.  Any new features in 10.2 that make this possible?

I just want to be able to maintain individual feature transparencies from ArcMap to uploaded Online feature services.

No there is nothing new in this area. As I understand it, we do support layer transparency, but not feature level transparency. There are no plans to support feature level transparency. You can promote the idea at ideas.arcgis.com.

Thanks,

Mike
