All,

I developed a map on Arc GIS Online for collecting some GPS data via field maps.  I was asked to add the capacity to take pictures of feature when GPSing. There is information on line about adding attachments to a feature class but none of them are how to do it on arc GIS online. Is there a way to enable this on Arc GIS Online? I want to avoid republishing if at all posable.

thanks in advance

Hi @Laura_m_Conner

Yes, you can do that.

  • Open the item details page for the layer
  • Click to open the layer settings
  • toggle Enable attachments
  • the ability to add attachments will automagically appear on the form

Not all items will support this method, but some hosted feature layers allow a workflow to enable attachments after the content has been published (if you are the owner or administrator).

See the Help page here.

 @EmilyGeo

Thanks that is the one place I did not look. I have enabled attachments for the layer and will get with the field personnel next week to insure it works.

No problem. You can test the form and attachment element in Map Viewer as well.
