Hi All -

I am trying to edit the maxRecordCount property for a hosted feature service.  I've done this many times successfully in the past.  Last week I updated the service to include additional features.  The maxRecordCount reverted back to 1000 (from the 2000 I had set it to previously).

When I go to edit the field, I am able to save my edits and yet the value of 1000 persists.  Has something changed and is there a new procedure to change this property?

Hey Michele,

Where are you using the hosted feature service? In a web map in ArcGIS Online or in another app like Collector for ArcGIS?

If you are using web applications, modifying the max record count isn't necessary. If you are consuming the service in an app that requires a change to the max record count, are you updating the layer or the services?

Layer:

https://services5.arcgis.com/cuQhNeNcUrgLmYGD/ArcGIS/rest/admin/services/Earthquake2017/FeatureServe.../0

or

Service

Here are some blogs about how web maps display large amounts of features:

Thank you Kelly!  I found the source of my problem.  In the ArcMap Share As > service editor, there is now a box to write in the max record count.  It defaults to 1000.  I need to change it because the service is used in an app that allows users to download data.  With the default of 1000, they could not download all of the data.  With that default set to 1000, I could edit the rest URL and change it, but it wouldn't really change the limitation of only being able to download 1000 features.  I updated the service and changed that default from 1000 to 2000 and everything is working fine.

Kelly,

I am experiencing the similar situation regarding changing the "maxRecordCount".  I have tried to change the "maxRecordCount" through "Update Service Definition", but I cannot successfully make the change.  I know I can reupload and overwrite my original feature layer, but it will be my last option.  We would like to be able to export the attribute table using the web App.  Do you know why it works for some people to update the maxRecordCount through Update Service Definition but sometimes it doesn't work?

Please help.  Thank you very much,
