Let's say I have a Viewer license and I have been invited to join a Group from another Organization. The other Organization owns all the data and has Shared it with this Group. This data includes a File Geodatabase. Am I able to download a File Geodatabase using my Viewer license?

I would totally guess yes since there isn't much else you can do with a shared geodatabase in ArcGIS Online, but to download it. There are no settings in the file geodatabase page for allowing or not allowing downloads (like you see in a feature layer). I guess the only way to find out is to try! I did notice that I tried accessing a 'Publicly' shared file geodatabase in an incognito browser and it tried making me log into AGOL, which I thought was a little weird.

Hey @JeffreyThompson2

From this post here: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-questions/subscription-level-required-for-export-data/td...

(A little old) I noticed that they mentioned you'd need a Creator license to export the information from the details page, they do include a nice work-around, but it's dependent on if the app still works in the same way.

I did test this in my organization and a different organization, the viewer users are able to download images and CSVs normally without a creator license, but needed the creator license for exporting hosted feature layers!

Yeah, I knew about the creating an item in your content quirk when downloading a Feature Layer that's sort of where this question is coming from. Experience Builder allows for downloading other formats now too, including File Geodatabase, but you need a Creator license to do it.

We are working with another organization, who is fairly protective of their data (for good reason). They are the data owners. We want to update our CAD dispatch system using their data. Currently, I have access to their Group and can download the data with my Admin level account. We would like to hand this job off to the department personnel who would be the one to upload the data into CAD, but we want to be reasonably confident that they would be able to do it before we ask the other organization for access.

I asked ESRI Support and they said yes. So I'm giving you both Solutions.

Thanks Jeffrey! Good to know that the ambiguity is strong in this one!
