Does anyone know how to alter the scalebar units in the Arcgis.com-Viewer to metric? The viewer should also be useable in metric-countries.

Thanks.

The scalebar is not changeable at this point. It's something we will address in the future.

Thanks,

Thank you Mike for your prompt answer. So I would suggest to show no scalebar in the viewer (like in the ArcGis App for iOS) as long as the scalebar ist not changeable. Otherwise it would be a nerve for metric-users.

In 3.2 according to http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/flex-viewer/concepts/index.html#//01m300000018000000, scalebar="metric" option should work. The switch works in the Application Builder interface. But elsewhere I cannot make it work. Always both scales. Some problem?

Arto,

The documentation you refer to is for the ArcGIS Viewer for FLEX. The ArcGIS.com map viewer scalebar is controlled by the Region setting of your user profile. For example, when your region is set to United States, the scalebar shows miles; the scalebar shows meters for Canada...

It isn't right as I set my in my profile Region is Australia, but the scale bar show "miles". Could you please check?

Thao Truong,

Yes, the map should reflect meters when the region is set to Australia. Perhaps try clearing your browser cache.

Do you have a public account (free) or are you part of an organization? Can you share your username? I'm not sure if you username here is the same.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks for your reply Mike.

I've cleared browser cache. But the web map application is still showing "miles". I also noticed that the scale on web map is shown "Km" which is correct.

I checked on configure web application. No option about scale bar unit...Any idea Mike?

We have an organization account as City of Greater Geelong and have set the region to Australia. I've emptied the browser cache.

The scale bar is correct --metric, that is-- when viewing the arcgis.com page. But when the map is embedded in our own web page, the scale bar is in miles. See the attached image.

Can I fix this somehow, Mike? Thanks.
