I am trying the trail version of ArcGIS Online, I uploaded a shp file as a feature service, and shared to the orginaztion.

I also set the Edit tool to this feature service, there are three options: (1) Add, update and delete  features; (2)Update feature attributes only; (3) Add features only. Acctually I can add, update and delete the features, but I can't update feature attribute at all whatever which option is choosed. what's wrong?

Additional, I add this feature service to my Web Map and Web Mapping Application, and I can't update the attributes as well. How can I do?

Thanks

Do you add the shapefile zip file to arcgis.com or publish the service from arcmap?

Yeah, I add the shpfile zip files to ArcGIS Online, and there are two items in my content, one is Feature Services, the other is Shapefile, and then I add this feature service to my Web Map and generate Web Mapping Application.

I only have ArcView 10.0 (build 2414), there isn't this function for publishing a service (no option in "File" - "shzre as" - "Service") . what kind of version do I need?

Can you share your feature service publicly? Or share the shapefile you created it from?
You are trying to edit in arcgis online, right?

You need ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 to publish services to ArcGIS Online.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks Mike,

I have shared the feature service to the public, titled as Easement_TLine (tag as Easement TLine), you can review it. I can add or update the feature , but I can't edit the attribute of features in ArcGIS Online.

Acctually, I'd like to edit the attribute of feature in web map or web mapping applications, and I am using the trail ArcGIS Online.

Thanks again.

Looks like you've found a bug. I can reproduce the problem against your service. I was also able to edit the attributes in ArcGIS Explorer Online, so it's definitely a problem with Arcgis.com website. The feature service seems to be working properly. We'll have to investigate this. Can you keep this service running for a bit?

Thanks

I'm glad to find a bug for you, and I can't edit the attributes in ArcGIS Explorer Online either. There are two editor in  ArcGIS Explorer Online, edit popup and edit shape, and if I choose "Edit Popup", it pop a window titled as "Edit Pop-up" with two buttons: OK and Cancel. It still be edited for the attributes.

I can keep this service for several days.

Thanks,

Charles

I have found that you can edit the layer if you add it from the add menu via "add layer from web" and use this URL to the service.

http://services.arcgis.com/Iek2ogU4eLCYa22m/ArcGIS/rest/services/Easement_TLine/FeatureServer

We'll have to figure out why it doesn't work when added from the item in arcgis.com

Thanks,

Mike

I'm having the same issue.  I am trying to enable editing of the attributes only.  The difference is my feature service if for organizational use only, not public.  I open up the map and try to edit it on ArcGIS for Android (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0) but am unable to.
