Can't creae tile service on AGOL, only tile service definition

Hi-

Even though I select that I want a tile service stood up in AGOL the system seems to see this as a service definition only.  Is there something I need to do from the "My Content" catalog to convert the service definition to an actual tile service?  I am pretty sure I clicked on all the right options when creating the service from my ArcGIS 10.1 client in the first place.

Help me burn my AGOL credits !  Should be easier to do this.

So, am I correct in assuming that you created a service definition file on your local machine, then uploaded it directly to ArcGIS Online in My Content?

When you create the SD file, you have to author it such that you specify you want to create a hosted service from it, by pointing at ArcGIS Online as the server to publish to. There are slight differences between SD files authored for publishing to ArcGIS Online vs ArcGIS Server. Thus, if you authored it for publishing to ArcGIS Server, you can't publish it in Online.
