The ability to turn layers on and off is not currently available in the mobile view of ArcGIS Online. Its something we may consider adding to the app for a future release.

Thanks Joe,

If I'm not mistaken, that reference is for "Explorer of ArcGIS" which is a native app for mobile.  I'm talking about turning map layers on/off in AGOL map in a mobile device browser.

Royce:

I tried accessing my AGOL maps via my Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia 920) using IE and an enterprise login and I got an error page.  I do not have an Android or iPhone on which to test this.

Royce,

All depends on which Web app you are using on your mobile. If you are logged into your arcgis.com account and are viewing a web map (in url you will see ?webmap=...) you can turn off layers in the left side contents panel. If you are viewing a mapping app somebody has published  (in url you will see ?id=...), if they have included a TOC or list of layers you should be able to turn a layer off in the usual way. If no TOC was included then you are out of luck. Hope that helps.

Hey Matt,

You're first example is what I've been trying and the UI isn't matching what you are describing.  On my Android device, there is no "left side contents panel".  I just have a map with some controls overlayed on top of it, like the "plus/minus" buttons for zooming.  It sounds to me like you are seeing the full "desktop" UI instead of the mobile UI, which is much scaled-down from the full desktop AGOL map UI.  I very well could be wrong about this since we aren't directly looking at each other's screens.

Here's the map I'm testing:  http://larimer.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=fac44a005f6644e3bb3f62c4f13d2c26

Should be viewable by the public.  If you look at the TOC on your desktop browser, there are 4 layers plus the basemap.  When you open the map on a smaller mobile device (phone not tablet), a nice mobile UI comes up but as far as I can tell, no option is available to toggle those 4 layers.

What say you?

Thanks Kelly.  Is there any documentation or "what's new" for the mobile view capabilities?

When we add new functionality to the mobile view we usually list it in the Portal What's New doc. At the last release we didn't add any new functionality to the mobile view.
