Hi,

I am trying to create a new hosted feature layer that inherits label and popup properties from an existing layer.

I am setting up a map and associated layers that will be used for delineating priority polygons for larvicide treatments.  There will be10 separate treatments via drone this summer and each treatment can be a maximum of 250 acres in size.

I have set up a master layer with special popup and label properties, but I need to have the project manager reproduce an empty layer and the associated properties 10 times -  once for each treatment date.  FYI - the project manager has limited ArcGIS Online skills, so I am trying to make it as easy as possible.

I can't figure out an easy way to do this.  Any ideas.  It seems like there should be a way to specify a "template" when creating a new hosted feature layer that inherits the popup and label properties. I have tried specifying an existing feature layer when creating a new hosted feature layer, but the popup and label properties are not carried over.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

In the research that I did I found ESRI articles stating that the only way to make symbology go to AGOL is to upload the map or layer as a new item or enter them in AGOL manually.

What I did for similar issue.

Uploaded Hosted Feature Layer will all my data.

Started ArcGIS Pro and loaded a blank map. <configured the base map>

From top menu "Map" > ribbon "Add Data" > "Portal" > "My Content" > load that Hosted Feature Layer.

Applied pop-up / label properties that would be shared across layers.

Made copies (x5 for my app) and changed the Query statement to limit each layer to its subset. (I believe in your case it would be date of treatment.)

Then I made separate layer style changes.

That provided me with all the layers I needed. For my application I just uploaded the whole map but that leaves me unable to share each layer separately.

From top menu "Share" > ribbon section "Share as" > Choose to upload as either a whole map (Web Map) with multiple layers or each layer as a separate layer (Web Layer).

Additional notes:

Pop-ups allow HTML and SQL but Label Properties have to be done in Arcade for AGOL.

From this point if I update the Hosted Feature Layer's data all layers adjust to the new data but all pop-up/label properties continue to work.

Specific to the question:

Once in ArcGIS Pro use Geoprocessing tool "Apply Symbology From Layer" to apply the existing symbology before creating new item in AGOL.
