Hello,

We've recently stumbled into an issue where my colleague who's also an Admin cannot access the "Overwrite entire feature layer option" even though he also has shared access in OneDrive to the file.

We read through the documentation for "if the overwrite feature layers isn't available", but we weren't able to find anything in the documentation that would lead to this issue:
https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/manage-data/manage-hosted-feature-layers.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_1...

Could you please advise?

Thank you,

Amanda Huber

Hey Amanda,

Does this work if the data is downloaded locally into the user folder? In my experience Onedrive encounters a lot of issues with any workflow requiring a large degree of read/write operations given the way it manages syncing.

Hope that helps,

David

Hi @David_McRitchie, thanks for your response! Can you clarify what you mean by "downloaded locally into the user folder"?

A bit of an update also-

We've pursued this issue further with Esri Support (case #03923203) and discovered it seems to be a two part problem, an Esri item ownership issue for Admins and how OneDrive auth is passed.

1. From our understanding of the documentation, Admins should have full access to items within AGOL including the ability to update items not owned by them. This doesn't seem to be the case with OneDrive items.

When testing transferring the ownership of the item to the Admin's account, they can then update. This shouldn't be the case.

2. Once transferred and the Admin is the owner of the item they're able to see the overwrite option, but when authenticating with OneDrive it fails even though the item has been shared with them via OneDrive as well.

Happy to hear if you have any ideas!

Thanks,

Amanda Huber

Update: This has been formally logged as a Bug by Esri support: BUG-000177604.

In addition, during the case there was the discovery of an additional issue. When the Administrator Owns the item, the greyed out issue goes away but they are still unable to update the data even though they have read/write permissions through OneDrive on the item-
