Add Field dialog says GUID field length will be 36, but resulting field length is 38

When I create a new GUID field in AGOL > Contents > Fields, the Add Field dialog says "Store a 36 character string...".

But when I look at the resulting field, its length is 38.

Why does it say 36 when the result is 38?
