This idea is based on my visiting over 300 schools and 300 universities worldwide over the past 20 years: ArcGIS online needs a decent number of point, line, and polygon symbols at one’s fingertips. Most faculty and students I have worked with, and some GIS professionals too, are not going to spend the time to upload their own symbols on a regular basis. Yes, I know they can do this and this capability is appreciated. But we in the year 2025 by now should have a few hundred of the symbols - a subset of what is in ArcGIS Pro (certainly not ALL, but SOME) available in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer. It wouldn’t take that long for someone on the Esri development team to export some of those Pro symbols into ArcGIS online. These include a set of the basics: A rhombus, a street sign, a bicycle, a pedestrian symbol, a set of stars, a set of circles around numbers one through 10, these types of things - again - selected core symbols in ArcGIS Pro, ported to ArcGIS Online. Thank you.
