Our organization utilises Partnered Collaborations in ArcGIS Online to share authoritative datasets from external partners to our publicly accessible ArcGIS Hub Site. While these collaborations effectively secure content, a key limitation reduces the usability of shared items as we cannot apply our organisation’s categories to them.
This restriction impacts discoverability, particularly in applications that use Add Data or Browse Layer widgets. These widgets are configured to filter and surface data based on our organization’s categories. Because shared items cannot be categorised, they do not appear in these tools unless users manually switch their search from “My Organization” to “ArcGIS Online.” Our Hub Catalogue, which also leans on organizational categories to filter results, is similarly affected.
This limitation is creating challenges for our external partners, who expect their authoritative datasets to be easily discoverable by the public and stakeholders.
