We are still (as an agency) working with the 'legacy' map viewer. I was recently in the newer version, even though it's now just called 'Map Viewer' and noted that it doesn't have a 'Calculate' function on the field's themselves. Not sure if it's in there but it is sure helpful.
The other thing that has been missing from even the legacy map viewer is the ability to delete many records at once, unless I've been missing that as well.
This is on our roadmap for this year as we add more features to the table component and bring it up to parity to MVC.
- Add+Delete Fields
- Calculate on Fields
- Add+Delete Records.
Great! Looking forward to it.
The only other thing I'm missing is the 'Save' on the layer itself. I think the layer is saved automatically now so you don't have to worry about it but it was somewhat soothing to right click on the layer and see if it that was enabled or disabled, and if it was enabled to click on it to make sure it was saved. Maybe you could just add a dummy one to click on now and then (just kidding).
Keep up the great work!
Yup Save is planned for UC. We added duplicate/copy this release.
Hi, One follow up. JeffreyWilkerson's original post included the "ability to delete many records at once." I don't see that explicitly addressed in RussellRoberts1 response. This would, I think, require the ability for a user to SELECT multiple records. That is something I've really been wanting since the MVC first came out. And that select would persistently highlight the records in the map as well, until the user reset the select, like in the attribute table in Pro. THAT would be powerful. Thanks!
Multi select is present and you can zoom to highlighted/multi selected records. The selection can be cleared in the table and right now its also removed when the table is closed.
Hi Russel, Wow. I stand corrected. I will now probably really embarrass myself. How long has that capability been available?
Multi select came in December and the show selected in the table came with the release last week 🙂
Hello! Has there been any progress on integrating the field calculator directly into the "new" map viewer? Navigating to the data tab each time isn't the most efficient. I've been hesitant to leave the classic version due to the absence of some core features like this one...
